$1 million in scholarships awarded to Kalamazoo area students

Posted

KALAMAZOO, Mich.– 334 area students received the gift of a lifetime after The Kalamazoo Community Foundation donated $1 million in scholarships over the summer.

Generous donors from all over West Michigan have made it possible for 53 funds to be made so that the scholarships can be given to students who are eligible in a wide range of special skills. The amount for each scholarship can range from $250 to $15,000.

The next scholarship for students to apply for is the Clarence L. Remynse Scholarship. The deadline is December 1 and it can go up to $7,500, as well as be renewed.

The Remynse Scholarship is created for high school seniors who plan to be a full-time student getting a degree in business, education, engineering, math, psychology, science, pre-law or pre-med.

The Kalamazoo Community Foundation has given local students more than $27 million in scholarships in recent years.  For more information on the Foundation, you can visit www.kalfound.org/scholarships.
